The Bovina Center for Sustainability at Quiet Peak Farm is a place of rare balance. Nestled at the end of a road in the Western Catskills, our site is simultaneously a tranquil sanctuary and a stimulating hub for regenerative practice.

Here, the peacefulness of the land offers the chance to decompress and reconnect with nature, while the daily rhythms of a working regenerative farm provide a compelling, invigorating energy. By combining these qualities with the expertise of a life-long educator, we have created the Bovina Center for Sustainability (BCS)—a unique learning center now fully open to the public.

This Center represents the culmination of decades of dreams and hard work. Our founder and Executive Director, Gabriel Cohen, has spearheaded this vision to create a space where sustainability is lived, not just studied. We believe that when the right partnerships meet this landscape, magic happens.

At BCS, our experiences are intentionally process-oriented rather than production-focused. We have found that when visitors engage directly with animal care and small-scale farming, they leave more curious, rejuvenated, and deeply informed. Most importantly, we remain a 'living lab'—constantly observing and evolving our systems to find better ways to nurture both the earth and the self.

We invite you to spend time with us. Whether you are an individual seeker or part of a larger organization, we are excited to collaborate and create a meaningful experience for you here at the Center.

Sincerely,
The Bovina Center for Sustainability

Experiential Learning:

Learning is not just about acquiring information from a book or via someone else, but it is also actively constructing meaning through one's own experience

We believe that experiential learning offers a powerful and essential approach to education. When people are engaged in real, practical scenarios, subject matter makes sense.

Experiential learning cultivates:

  • a deep understanding of the connectedness of subjects
  • critical skill development
  • self-confidence
  • personal growth
  • solution-based thinking

Sessions at BCS

BCS organizes and operates experiential educational sessions to inspire and instruct people in sustainable practices through the medium of a regenerative farm.

Throughout the year, we offer educational sessions on the farm ranging from 5- day experiences to 10-day/night gatherings. Each session is geared toward a specific age group with appropriate themes and concepts.

Examples of activities or themes engaged with and explored:

  • Rotating grazing ruminants through pastureland
  • Feeding livestock
  • Tending to poultry
  • Washing/preparing farm goods for dispersal into the community
  • Demonstrations about the resilient green systems
  • Water catchment systems
  • Solar-powered pumps
  • Large-scale composting
  • Passive solar heating

The goal of each session is to educate and  inspire participants so that they leave the Center with more knowledge and the determination to bring sustainable practices into their own lives and respective communities.

Farm tours are a great way to connect with guests and strengthen community ties

Individuals and groups of any age are invited to reserve a tour to learn firsthand about the themes of regenerative farming.

Tours will be available in 3-hour blocks and consist of time spent detailing and observing what is happening on the farm. This could include:

  • species-specific animal husbandry
  • explanation and discussion about the benefits of a multi-species farm
  • exploring greenhouse and pasture-based food plots
  • discussing crop choices and benefits
  • harvesting vegetables, fruits, and proteins
  • observing what it takes to package and disperse food off the farm

Farm tours create the opportunity for BCS to share with the public the importance of regenerative farming.
